VocalNoise: an augmented communication tool. VocalNoise is a website that allow you to use a dynamic interface to select icon(s) individually or as a group to formulate sounds. You will also have the ability to upload their own images and sounds for use as icons.
WHERE:
With VocalNoise you can access your icon inteface any time, any where, and from any device that has access to the internet. This includes everything from your personal laptop, to your desktop computer, to your PDA, even the new Nintendo Wii can access VocalNoise. We forgot to mention that many new cell phones now have access to the internet and can be used with VocalNoise.
HOW:
VocalNoise uses a web interface to deliver what appears to be the standard picture board, except this board can talk. You can select an symbol, then VocalNoise will output the name of the symbol you selected. For example, if you select an image of milk, VocalNoise will play a sound that states "Milk". These symbols are organized in an easy to navigate tab structure.
COST:
$50.00 per month of access + the cost of the device you are using to access VocalNoise. Most users buy an off the shelf tablet PC for less then $1000.00
FUTURE:
- Integration of eye tracking software: VocalNoise, will have the ability to be operated by a merely looking at a screen.
- Multiple language support: VocalNoise will have the ability to output sound in multiple languages.
- Formula support: VocalNoise will have the ability to "add" symbols together to create sentences or "formulas"
- Vocal Output Customization: VocalNoise will have an output customization engine that will allow the user to modify the way his or her output voice sounds.
